The best way to explore the archipielago
Chartering a catamaran is the most exclusive and comfortable way to visit the islands. Unlike traditional accommodations, San Blas lacks luxurious hotels due to its status as an indigenous jurisdiction, where the land is preserved and utilized solely by the local communities. While there are some basic cabañas operated by locals, they offer minimal comfort and make island hopping a challenge.
Chartering a catamaran emerges as the most superior way to visit these islands. It not only ensures your stay is wrapped in comfort but also grants the freedom to sail from one island to another effortlessly. Each day presents a new horizon, a new beach to claim as your own, without ever compromising on the luxury of your accommodations.
Furthermore, the experience is enriched by the hosts aboard these catamarans, the true "Lobos de Mar" (sea wolves), whose stories of the sea and intimate knowledge of San Blas’s hidden gems transform a simple vacation into an adventure of a lifetime. With a catamaran, every aspect of San Blas is at your fingertips, offering a blend of adventure, relaxation, and a deep dive into the vibrant culture and pristine nature of the islands.

Choosing to fly is more costly but offers greater convenience and comfort. Plus, the flight itself is an experience to remember, crossing from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic over the jungle—it's simply beautiful!
Drive and speedboat for an adventure through nature
For those opting for the land and speedboat route, the adventure begins with a 3-hour journey through the jungle. This path might be bumpy as it cuts through lush landscapes, but it rewards travelers with stunning views. It's a more economical choice: shared 4x4 vehicles are available to Carti port for $30 per person, followed by a speedboat ride directly to your catamaran or chosen island.
